Children’s Sunday School, Childcare, and Music

Nursery

Kirkwood provides loving nurseries for infants & toddlers during the Sunday School hour, as well as during the 11:00 Worship Service.  Nursery is also available for the 9:00 am Morning Praise Service for children under the age of two years.  During the summer, nursery is provided for our one 10 am Worship service.

Bridges to Worship

This class meets after the children’s sermon, during the 11:00 Worship Service. It is for children ages 3 through 1st grade. They are invited to attend a special worship service for children, taught by volunteers on a rotating schedule. Bridges includes singing, Bible lessons, prayer and a related activity or craft. A light snack is provided.

During the fall quarter, 2nd through 4th graders are invited to attend a special worship preparation class, following the children’s sermon during the 11:00 Worship Service. Basic parts of our worship service, including the sacraments, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Gloria Patri, will be discussed so that the participants will develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the service.

Sunday School Classes

Sunday School classes resume at 10 am on September 18th.

Choraleer Choir

All elementary-age children are welcome to join Choraleers. There are no try-outs or auditions; we welcome any child who wants to make music with us. Our director chooses lots of kinds of music that the group performs throughout the year. Choraleers sing many songs, and even get to learn how to sing harmony parts. We use tone-chimes and Orff instruments - you don't even have to know how to play any other instrument or how to read music. It's fun!

Bring a friend as well - we're always happy to have visitors. For more information, call Christopher at 202.610.2873 or email him at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
